Remnants of Hurricane Debby Brings HFD Out 3 Times

The Hillsdale FD responded to 3 calls for service on August 9th, 2 of which were caused by the winds brought on by the remnants of Hurricane Debby.
Just after 0800 hours, the FD was dispatched to the area of Ruckman and Piermont for a transformer fire. 27 Car 1 arrived and determined there was a tree rubbing against the high tension wires which caused the fire. The fire had self extinguished and ... (Full Story & Photos)

Torrential Rain Brings Flooding to the Glendale Section

Just before 22:00 hours, 27 OEM 2 requested the FD to respond to 17 Glendale to assist a motorist who attempted to drive through street flooding and their vehicle became stuck.

Windy Day Brings Station 27 Out Twice

At 11:37 this morning HFD was dispatched to a low hanging wire that was potentially arching. 27 Engine 2 and Captain 27-4 arrived to confirm there was no fire or hazard, releasing the FD almost immediately.

HFD Assists WLFD on the GSP

At 2:22 this afternoon, WLFD units along with Montvale FD under an AMA policy were dispatched to the Garden State Parkway for a reported MVA with entrapment. HFD was also dispatched as some 9-1-1 calls originally reported it in their jurisdiction. Station 27 Gets Hit Out Twice on the 6th

For the 2nd run of the day, 27 Rescue responded to an MVA w/ a reported person trapped. FD & PD units arrived on scene quickly to determine there was no entrapment. The crew mitigated a fluid spill in the roadway and cleared shortly after. The 1st run was an activated fire alarm shortly after noon, determined to be set off from cooking smoke.... Station 27 Responds to 3 on Groundhog’s Day

Punxsutawney Phil may not have seen his shadow, but that didn’t stop the HFD volunteers from responding out 3 times. The first 2 were potential gas emergencies, 1 being a gas leak at a meter and the 2nd being a potential runaway boiler. Both were quickly mitigated, and the scenes were turned over to PSE&G.
