| This morning at 1:37, the HFD received a 911 call from an employee reported a fire in the bakery area of the store. A Battalion 7 Box Alarm was transmitted adding Rivervale FD, Westwood FD, and Woodcliff Lake FD, as well as a Hillsdale Ambulance. 27 Car 2 arrived on scene shortly after dispatch, he confirmed a fire in the store being held in check by the sprinkler system.
The crew from 27 Engine 1 established their own water supply and stretched a 2.5” line into the building. The fire was quickly knocked down, and the crew confirmed there was no extension, and it was contained to the contents and the hood system.
The mutual aid assignment assisted in a lengthy ventilation process due to the size of the store. Chief Farrell held Command.
The cause is currently under investigation by the Hillsdale Fire Marshal and is believed to be not suspicious in nature. The county board of health was on scene as well.
Thank you to our mutual aid for their assistance. The FD was on scene for approximately 75 minutes |
